Founded on fresh thinking

Olswang was founded in 1981 by Simon Olswang, who retired in 2002, and Mark Devereux, now the firm's Senior Partner. Formed as a breakaway from property law firm Brecher & Co, our initial focus was principally on film, media and corporate work. We've experienced rapid growth over the past thirty-one years. Within our first decade, we had grown to 10 partners, by 2002 we had 50 and in 2011 we have a team of nearly 700 people. That includes 100 partners across seven European offices in London, Berlin, Brussels, Madrid, Paris, Thames Valley, Munich and most recently Singapore.

Media expertise has shaped the firm from day one and our experience extends across the entire industry, while our strength in Technology and Telecoms comes from deep industry insight matched with practical know-how. Today we have unbeatable full-service practice offering corporate, commercial and litigation advice. These teams are complemented by our cross-border experts specialising in areas such as real estate, tax, EU and competition, employment, finance and intellectual property.

Simon Olswang
Simon is currently enjoying an active semi-retirement. He travels widely and is a respected commentator and speaker on media and technology sector issues, and is still active as a non-executive and mentor to technology businesses both large and small. His founding vision was to create a law firm that allows all to achieve the fullest extent of their potential based on merit. This vision continues to be a key part of Olswang's values today.
