Michael Burdon


Michael is a Partner, and Head of the Commercial Group, comprising the Intellectual Property (IP) team,
the Media, Communications and Technology (MCT) team and the EU and Competition team

Michael's work spans general advice, litigation and non-contentious dealings with regard to all aspects of intellectual property. He advises a diverse range of businesses on maximising the protection, enforcement and extraction of value from their intellectual property rights. His principal area of expertise is patents, providing strategic advice on patenting strategy, protection and risk and also in patent litigation, especially multijurisdictional disputes.

Michael is a widely acknowledged expert in the patent area and has represented clients in numerous reported cases, in a diverse range of technologies from pharmaceuticals, biotechnology and medical devices through to electronics, software and communications.

He is an elected member of the Intellectual Property Lawyers' Association, serves on the Intellectual Property Advisory Committee of the BioIndustry Association and on the Editorial Board of Patent World.
