Charles acts on a broad range of financings with an emphasis on TMT and Corporate Real Estate Finance. He acts for domestic and international lenders and for investors, funds and other institutions. Charles has particular experience in large structured and strategic financings.
Charles has developed new techniques for the financing of media and technology businesses. He has promoted TMT Finance to become a specialist area of legal practice in its own right. As well as being closely connected to the corporates in the sectors, he has helped to found the Association of Media and Technology Bankers to bring together best practice in the finance industry.
He is a leading expert on Digital Money and the law of bank payments, has given strategic and technical advice on these subjects to a number of financial institutions and chairs a panel at the Digital Money Forum.
Charles is recommended in the Legal 500 which says that clients praise the 'technically excellent' Charles Kerrigan. He is described as 'insightful, clever and well-connected'.
Charles lectures in Secured Lending, Subordination and Capital Markets at the City of London College of Law. He is a guest lecturer at The London School of Economics and Political Science on the LLM in The Law and Practice of International Finance and at Henley Business School on the MSc course.
He writes for The Times, the Journal of International Banking and Financial Law, Bloomberg Financial Services Law Review and has written for IP Finance, International Financier and International Accountant.
He is a member of the Editorial Board of LexisNexis.
Charles is a member of the Olswang LLP Opinions Committee and currently sits on the Know-How Committee of Lloyds Banking Group.
