Alicia specialises in restructuring, insolvency and non-performing loan sales.  She has significant experience representing lenders, as well as other stakeholders, involved in local and multi-jurisdictional work-out assignments.  Her focus is on providing rapid and commercial input on strategic issues, co-ordinating and implementing all elements of restructurings through both consensual and formal processes.

In the current market, her focus has been on commercial real estate and leisure, while still remaining active in all distressed sectors.  Alicia has advised on a number of the most recent high profile real estate insolvencies and restructurings and has represented a number of the lenders active in the property finance market.

Alicia also advises buyers and sellers of distressed debt, assisting in negotiating and documenting trades and implementing trading strategies.

She is one of the founders of the Olswang Real Estate Special Situations Group and the InspiRE Breakfast Club, providing a leaders' forum on the challenges and opportunities of the current real estate and lending markets.

Alicia has spoken extensively at conferences on restructuring and NPL (Non-Performing Loan) Sales.

Alicia's experience has included:

• Kaupthing:  Acting for the resolution and winding up committees, including advice on numerous Pan-European restructuring cases and on the legal aspects of closing out and settling their derivatives portfolio.
• Sapphire:  Advised the senior lenders and subsequently the administrators (Grant Thornton LLP) on the restructuring, enforcement and sale of over £200 million loans secured on the Sapphire Retail Fund portfolio of shopping centres in the UK.
• Project Cascade:  Advising a Senior Lender on the restructuring of £355million facilities to a specialist fund with a portfolio of over 25 hotels across the UK, including a debt equity swap involving offshore holdco's.
• Digital Film Finance:  Advised Cineworld on the financing structure in relation to the conversion of all its 77 cinemas to digital.  The deal involved structuring a complex multiple jurisdiction security package.
• Project Blue:  Advised a UK bank enforcing a £75million facility to a group investing in landmark hotels in the UK.  Advised the administrator and the bank in connection with the sale of the hotels and in connection with facilities provided by the bank to the purchaser.
