Olswang have advised Kymab Limited, a biotechnology company developing a state-of-the-art next generation human monoclonal antibody platform, on its Series A venture capital fundraising of up to £20 million by The Wellcome Trust.

This is an exciting life sciences deal to establish a new biopharmaceutical company whose state-of-the-art technology will be used to help better understand diseases and hopefully find better therapies for treatment. The technology was initially developed by the Sanger Centre which is one of the world's leading genetics research institutions based in Cambridge.

Stephen Rosen led a cross-departmental team with assistance from Tom Crease (Corporate), Stephen Reese and Robert Stephen (IP), Natasha Kaye and Stephen Smith (Tax) and Melanie Lane and Jenny Poole (Employment).

Speaking about the deal, Head of Life Sciences Stephen Reese said "The deal demonstrates the huge advantage that Olswang's sector-based approach delivers in combining cross-service line teams to provide a unified solution to high tech clients dealing with complicated technologies."
