Olswang has represented the management team of upmarket restaurant group and caterers Searcy's on a management buy-out.

Searcy's was founded by the Duke of Northumberland’s pastry chef in 1847 and remained under private ownership until its purchase by the Alternative Hotel Group (operator of De Vere Hotels).

Commenting on the deal, Graham Barber, Olswang, said: "Searcy's is a much-admired client for our leisure team which has seen tremendous growth of late. This is the latest in a long line of complex, high-profile, commercial deals for the leisure team."

Searcy's Chairman, Richard Tear, said: "This was a complicated transaction with multiple law firms involved. Olswang's assistance proved invaluable, helping manage the various parties and smooth the process"

The Olswang team was led by Graham Barber with assistance from Penelope Garden, James Wyatt, Eddie O'Hanrahan, Audrey Ah-Kan and Kathryn Noble.

Searcy's operates from a number of iconic locations such as St Mary’s Axe (the Gherkin), the National Portrait Gallery, The Hurlingham Club, the Barbican and the St Pancras Grand Restaurant and Champagne Bar at St Pancras Station.

Other outlets include The Assembly Rooms and the Pump Rooms in Bath; London Transport Museum; 1802 at The Museum of London Docklands; 30 Pavilion Road, Knightsbridge; Vinters Hall; Inner Temple and Searcys Champagne Bar, Westfield Centre.
