Olswang's green credentials have been formally recognised this week in the form of ISO 14001 certification.

The globally-applicable accreditation recognises that Olswang is committed to reducing its impact on the environment, and is the only internationally-recognised certification which applies to companies across all sectors. It uses standardised methods of measurement, and will set strict benchmarks to ensure continual improvement by meeting a set of targets over the next few years.

Olswang is now one of only a handful of law firms to be accredited.

The ISO auditor particularly recognised Olswang's:

  • 98% recycling rate (far exceeding the target of 88%);
  • Achievement of Carbon Neutral status;
  • Commitment to using sustainable stationery – for example, all branded stationery, including business cards, pens and pencils, is made from recycled products.

Senior partner, Mark Devereux said: "Olswang has always been serious about green issues, but creative about bringing them to life. An ISO accreditation is not only great news for us, but great news for our clients who are increasingly looking for internationally-recognised benchmarks in their service providers."
