Increasing private infrastructure investments in Germany

Due to the current debate around the introduction of infrastructure charges for passenger cars in Germany, the focus on finance infrastructure has moved toward a stronger involvement by private investors. According to an expert commission (Daehre Kommission) it is estimated that € 7.2 bn is missing for the maintenance and further development of the infrastructure.

Olswang acts for Setanta on cross border media sale to Al Jazeera

International TMT law firm Olswang has advised Irish entity Danu Investment Partners on the sale of its Australian pay tv channel "Setanta Sports".  The company owning the channel was purchased by BeIn Sports, a global sports channel business owned by Qatari Sports Investments, an affiliate of Al Jazeera Media Networks.

Olswang advises leading Philippines telecoms operator on investment in major German internet incubator

International TMT law firm Olswang has advised the leading telecoms operator in the Philippines, Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company (PLDT), on the establishment of a strategic cooperation with Germany's largest Internet-startup incubator, Rocket Internet AG, to develop online and mobile payment solutions. Under the terms of the partnership agreement PLDT will invest €333m for a 10 percent stake in Berlin-based Rocket Internet.

The Duties of the Employer under the Minimum Wage Act

On July 11, 2014, the Bundesrat approved the latest draft of the Minimum Wage Act (Mindestlohngesetz - MiLoG), a law proposed by the federal government. The law will come into effect on January 1, 2015.
