Our theatre practice advises on the funding of productions including regulatory issues associated with funding, and other investor issues. We also advise on co-production and licensing arrangements, theatre or venue hire agreements, online and website related issues and ticketing as well as agreements with creative teams, royalty pools, and secondary rights licensing, including cast album and merchandising deals, DVDs and other audio visual productions of live shows and events.   

Successful theatrical properties have the potential to dwarf revenues from other works and in order to maintain their value, careful rights management is essential.  

We have particular experience in advising on the critical issues that need to be front of mind if you are thinking of making a film or a television programme based on a stage play or musical or the other way around because an ill judged feature film of a famous stage play or musical can really damage its brand.
