Olswang is committed to being a responsible business. We understand that the success of our business relies on the relationships we build and the way we interact with our people, our clients, our community and our environment.
Our CR programmes ensure we have a positive social and environmental impact. We do this not because we think we have to, nor just because others do, but because we passionately believe that as a responsible and sustainable business, we will flourish and make a positive contribution to the world we live in.
Our statistics for 2011/12 show just how highly we value this. In the last year, 74% of our people have spent a combined 11,191 hours on CR projects, working with 57 charities and 23 clients to make a real impact. We have given over a million pounds worth of pro bono legal and raised over £73,000 for our charity partners.
We are committed to investing in innovative and creative projects, and to drawing on the talents and interests of our people. The Olswang Art Award, which has recently been nominated for a Lord Mayor's Dragon Award, included judges from Damian Hirst's studio, and the Olswang sponsored egg was the only one at the Faberge Big Egg Hunt to have been designed by schoolchildren (from our community partner Haverstock school).
We have shared our passion with our clients, introducing them to projects like Lawyers in Schools and the Whitechapel Mission, and we support them in the development of their own CR plans. We want to make the biggest impact possible and we know that collaborating with our clients in this way is key to achieving this.
On the environmental side, our credentials go from strength to strength. For the second year running, we're ISO certified and we've even been helping clients to attain the certification for themselves. As well as recycling 99% of our waste, this year our London office has achieved a 10% cut in carbon emissions.
